Supremacy 1914 is a long term strategy game. Combat takes place over a course of hours, and an overseas voyage can take over a day. Certain structures and units will only become available after a certain number of days have passed.

This means you must plan for the long term. A lot can change in a week, and so, as your nation's leading military commander, you must be ready for anything.
